If you love open source hardware and retro gaming, check out Arduboy on Kickatarter.
Arduboy is an open platform for people to play, create and share games. A game system the size of a credit card. Choose your favorite classic game from the completely free Arduboy Arcade. Built on the popular Arduino software, it’s also an excellent way to learn how to program! Because you can learn to make your own games, Arduboy is a game system the size of your imagination!
Kevin “Arduboy” Bates is a wonderful person with a big heart who makes awesome open source hardware. I don’t know anyone more deserving of Kickstarter success than him.
Arduboy was much discussed in many circles outside of the open source hardware arena. You may remember the Arduboy from when it first may rounds on the internet in 2014 with coverage from Time, GameInformer, and even Fashion Times.
More than anything thouth, I love Luke’s comment in this EEVBlog forum thread:
I don’t think it’s economically viable to manufacture scalably. What is this person going to do when he eventually puts it on Kickstarter or something and thousands of people order them?
